Maya is a senior Graphic Design major at Georgia Southern University, and we asked her some questions so you can get to know her!

1. Why Graphic design?

“I love art and design so I chose Graphic Design. I would like to do motion media, graphic novels, and explore sustainable design for the beauty industry that looks high quality and is biodegradable (especially for products that are heavily packaged.)”

Maya also designed the project's logo below!

2. What are your hobbies?

“I love to read about mythology, write poems and fantasy stories, painting and drawing.”

3. What’s your favorite bird and why?

“My favorite bird? I went as a Penguin for Halloween 2018...”

4. Why’d you join the #SaveNuthatches team?

"I decided to join the team because I had fun with Corina in my lab last spring, and I like to try new things. Global issues like climate change, wildlife, plant matter, and sustainability have become overwhelmingly obvious to me, and I feel like I should participate in movements that help mend the world."

5. What’s your favorite part about the project thus far?

“What I love most about this project right now is all the learning I’m doing. I’ll learn random things, and I find myself reciting it to other people and getting the word around about Brown-headed Nuthatches, and it feels great”

How do you plan to be a conservationist after you graduate?

"I plan on being a conservationist by starting my own compost for my garden and using Graphic Design to spread the word about environmental issues that I care about. Also, I would really love to design and build my own birdhouses. Maybe a Bird-Condo or something."
